The Tale of Vasalisa the Fair
Dear Sisters,
As I sit by the fire layered in blankets with my warm tea, I think of a dutch word, "gezellig", that has made itself known to me over the last few days. There is no direct English translation for it, but the essence is "cozy" - a warm inviting place, time spent with lovely people...the good feelings of togetherness. I feel gezellig deeply as I make myself warm inside and out; as I think on all of you and picture us still in circle together.
In continuation of our gathering, I'd like to pass along the story of Vasalisa the Fair. This is normally a story told to young women, before or just after their menarche (first bleed) but it is relevant for all women for remembrance of our power.
I believe throughout our lives we are in a constant flow of disconnecting and reconnecting with our inner knowing. There are times when the veil is thin (during pregnancy as one example) when we are so deeply connected to our bodies and grounded in our inherent wisdom.
